This course introduces students to bacteria, viruses, algae, fungi and protozoa. The students will see how microbes relate to other living organisms and how human beings have gained an understanding of the functions of larger organisms by studying the microbes. In addition, the roles of microorganisms in the environment, industry and agriculture are highlighted.
